TUNADO, A SAFE HAVEN FOR BEE FARMERS.

As the old adage “A Friend in Need is a Friend Indeed” suits Friendship, so does The Uganda National Apiculture Development Organisation (TUNADO) to Bee Farmers in Uganda.

Addressing various Bee Farmers, Fruit Growers & Honey Processing Houses from different Regions of Uganda (Eastern, West Nile, Northern & Western) that gathered for the TUNADO-Multi Stakeholders’ Platform Workshop recently, the TUNADO Executive Director – Mr. Baryomumaisho Dickson emphasized Unity amongst the Farmers as a backbone to having a strong voice hence easy mobilisation for Government suitable Policies.

Attending the Workshop was the TUNADO Board Director, Mr. Bugaali who highlighted the importance of having frequent Engagements with Bee Farmers in all regions in order to truly understand the challenges and appreciate the opportunities that Apiculture presents to Uganda and perhaps address the ever-growing unemployment rate amongst the youths.

In addition, TUNADO has come up with a saving Mobile Application to enable Subscribers/Members access to Favourable Loans at minimal Interest rates. The head of Business, World of Bees – Mr. Omara Emmanuel encouraged Farmers to fully register with TUNADO to access loans as Uganda’s Industrial Sector fights to overcome the COVID-19 Effects on the Economy.

TUNADO continues to support the AdEMNEA Project’s Goal to develop & deploy an Environment Monitoring Network which is aimed at availing Farmers with Weather Information & the Status of Bees in the Hives.

The TUNADO-AdEMNEA Project Partnership is a win-win as it allows the AdEMNEA researchers close proximity to Bee Farmers & Fruit Growers, while giving the TUNADO stakeholders direct influence in to the Bee-protection technology. This symbiotic relationship is expected to contribute to Project success.
