A TECHNOLOGY-ENABLED FARMING ENVIRONMENT? WE WANT TO BE INVOLVED.

The transformation from eating supper around a fire lit up by wood in the dark of night to having dinner with aprons, folks, and knives would send one into a frenzy but not to worry, the farmers in the Lango sub-region have immediately embraced the slightest thought of integrating Technology-Enabled Environments into their farming activities as the AdEMNEA Project takes root into physical farms.

A team from Makerere University (AdEMNEA Project) interfaced with several Bee Farmers, Fruit Growers & Honey Processing Houses during the World Bee Day Celebrations in Lira District recently.

The Farmers expressed their eagerness & expectations as below;

  • The Bee Farmers are interested in how the proposed Network will help them deal with the Bee Diseases such as ‘Mori’ and Control Pests in the hives.
  • How about helping them identify the various intruders in the Hives so that Bees are not scared away.
  • They further want to know how the Network will help them maximize the Production of Honey from their Hives.
  • Alex Odong, a Bee Farmer from Lira Town would like to know which Hive does better.

The AdEMNEA Project will have to further engage the farmers at each stage of the project implementation to ensure proper & timely feedback from the would-be beneficiaries.
